From Natural to Full-Glam: How to Choose the Right False Eyelashes

· Beauty

Gone are the days when the artificial-looking fake lashes were the main choice on the market. These days, we have the chance to choose from a large selection of lash extension kits that don’t require professional assistance in order to be applied. They can be as simple as your natural eyelashes but only in a darker shade in order to make your eyelash line fuller or full-glam. The latter lashes types are meant to be worn when going out or on special occasions. If new in this false lashes’ world, there are some things that you should take into account before making any decision.

Choose Wispy over Heavy Falsies

Wispy Lashes

One of the biggest mistake gals can make is choosing huge falsies. Heavy lashes will not only make you look unnatural, but they are also extremely heavy for the eyes. In most cases, they will weigh your eyes down and make you feel extremely uncomfortable, especially if you are wearing falsies for the first time. And when paired with heavy eye makeup, the results can be disastrous. So, instead of making such a mistake, it is always better staying thru to the rule ‘Less is more’’. Instead of choosing heavy eyelashes, you can choose wispy or some other more natural-looking lash extension kits. Although considered as more natural, they are not minimalistic (invisible) as your natural eyelashes, which means that such eyelashes kits can still give you a deeper and fluttery lash look.

Look for Transparent Lash Band

As the market and user needs are constantly evolving, manufacturers are striving to satisfy their needs. While in the past, false eyelashes were only available with a black lash band, nowadays, you can choose from ones with a transparent band. When comparing both of these bands, it seems that the latter is more successful as it’s easier to use. The one and only reason for this is that this band is more pliable, giving you the opportunity to be more precise.

Use Black Glue Instead of Transparent

Black Glue Lashes

Now, unlike the band (it’s better to use a transparent one), the false lashes glue it’s better to be black. The main reason for this is that transparent lash glue can leave a white sheen to the lashes, making them look unnatural. Additionally, this can create a blank space between the skin and the false lash, making it look unnatural. By using black lash glue, the lash can blend in more naturally to the lash line, making it look more natural and minimalistic.

How to Properly Apply False Eyelashes

Applying Eyelash Extenstions

There are many factors that can play a role in how easy you can apply the falsies and in what type to choose. So, before making any decision, the first thing you need to do is to find out what is your eye shape.

  • The deep-set eyes (eyes set deeper into the head with a more prominent brow bone) are all about choosing lashes that are longer in the centre.
  • The hooded eyes (the crease of the eyelid is nowhere to be found) will look best with a thin strip lash in a shorter length.
  • The downturned eyes (the outer corner of the eyes is drawing downwards) will look better with shorter strip lashes that are longer in the outer corners.
  • The prominent eyes (the eyes appear projected in the eye socket area) are all about using strip lashes that can be also applied on the bottom.

Once you have chosen your lashes, it’s time to use them. If not marked on the packaging which is left and which right, take the packaging and hold it under your nose with the lashes facing outwards. This will allow you to better identify the left and the right lashes. When done, just remove them from the packaging starting from the outer edge. The reason for starting from the outer edge and not from the inner corner is because even if you bend one section from the outer corner, you can trim it and customize it. While this is not possible with the inner corner as the lashes there are shorter.

When done, you can see whether you need to trim them or not. The golden rule says that the lashes should start where your natural bulk of eyelashes begins, otherwise you can irritate your eyes. In order to mark where they should end, you can see your outer corner and count 2- lashes inwards. If you want the lashes to be more curved, just roll them around your finger, pen or makeup brush and leave it like that for a minute.

Now that you are done, it’s time to apply glue and apply them on your eyelash line. Open the glue and dot a thin layer of it along the vein of the lash from corner to corner. Wait a few seconds, look down and press the strip lash against your lash line in the inner corner, corner and outer edge. And voila, you’re all done. You can apply one layer of mascara in order to ‘blend’ both your natural and false lashes.
