Choosing the Right Bearings

You should look for bikes that have sealed bearings, they will allow your bike to ride smoother and better for longer periods of time. Using unsealed bearings although it is a cheaper option, they will wear over time and will need more maintenance, once they are worn out, your bike wont be as easy and fun to ride. When you find a 20 inch BMX bikes for sale, you can check too see if the bearings are sealed by looking for 'sealed bearings', if those words are not present then the bike is probably not sealed.

Nothing Lasts Forever

As the title of this sections says, nothing really lasts forever, so you can't expect your bike to ether. Your bike's grips, paddles, pegs and tires will all break apart the more you ride and crash your bike, but this shouldn't discourage you. You can learn to how fix your bike and how change it's oil, tires and all the little individual parts. This will not only save you money but also add a skill to your personal portfolio. The price of the bike will also determine its lifespan, if you buy a $400 dollar bike you can't expect it to be as sturdy as a $800-$1000 dollar bike.

All Parts of the Bike Matter

Even the smallest parts on a bike can make a difference in its overall performance, be it for the better or the worst. Before you buy a bike, you should check all of its individual components for their quality. If a part is branded by a popular manufacturer such as Eclat or Shadow then you know you are buying a quality product – if however the product is made up of generic components, then you will never know their quality. But quality branded parts also means a pricier bike and the reasons are obvious.

Light Weight

If you are a beginner BMX rider you should look for a light weight bike, because they are generally easier to control and won't make you as tired while riding. If the bike is lighter it also means that it's made from quality brand parts (as brand manufacturers use lighter materials then the generic steel) that will last longer because they are more sturdy (as mentioned above). Once you become an experienced BMX rider and your 'BMX muscles' have developed, you can move on to heavier bikes.

WARNING!

When using a BMX bike you should always protect yourself, use all the required equipment. BMX riding is a dangerous sport, but only if you don't protect yourself and are not careful.
